Yes, folks, we have figured out how to record and post audio files of Ralph's weekly radio show.
You can listen to the attached audio files of Ralph Smith's "Lake County Roundtable" AM Radio Show in Lake County, FL (based in Leesburg) from today, Wed., Sept. 2, 2009. The show is EVERY Wednesday at 11am to noon on WLBE 790AM radio.
You can read an overview of the show, or scroll down and click the two files and listen to the actual audio files of the show.
His topics for today were:
- Lake County's Property Assessor, Ed Havill's resignation from the Republican Party, as described in the Orlando Sentinel's Lake section because of Governor Crist's appointment of a former advisor who many people think is unqualified.
- A lambast on the current 545 members of the House of Representatives and the need to vote them ALL out of office. "Get rid of these losers...clean them all out..."
- A reading of a massive list of taxes we all have to pay, and
- The 78% increase in prices of apple pie at McDonalds - inflation is here...
- Ralph's new email for the show: [email protected]
- Website addresses for this blog as well as County Commissioner Jimmy Conner's blog "ConnerReport" at http://connerreport.com/index.php
- Details related to one of the recipients, a convicted criminal, of a FREE house built by the Lake County SHIP program using tax funds, which was another mismanaged project at Lake County. The recipient still has not paid any taxes on the free house. People got free houses when they didn't live in the area where a tornado struck, which was the reason for the houses.
- Lake County gave $8-million to a concrete company to buy a plant that could not be used.
- Lake County not managing overtime for fire workers, and they went over budget by $1-million.
- The Niagara water legal dispute, where the County lost the case, and including legal fees we (the taxpayers) will probably pay out more than $4-million on the losing case pushed by some of the County Commissioners.
- The age discrimination lawsuit settlement that cost the Lake County, FL Government $70,000 as we discussed in our prior posting, which was the result of research by local resident Lee Johnson.
- the North lake County Hospital District and their upcoming Sept 10th meeting at the Lake County Commissioner's office at 5:15pm to discuss their 1 mill property tax with a call in from Marilyn Bainter who provided more information. WHERE are they spending the $11-million in tax revenue they collect? Read the details and schedules for all the tax hearing meetings of different agencies - they are printed on your property tax "TRIM" notice you recently received in the mail (if you are a resident or business owner who own residence or commercial property in Lake County). (see our separate page on the Hospital District in the "Pages" section in the right side column of this blog), and
- State Representative Alan Hayes is talking about changing the law for the North Lake Hospital District to allow the District Trustees to specify millage rates up to TWO mills (double the current amount). Ralph suggests you call Hayes and give him an earful. "Wake up, buddy" says Ralph to Alan.
- other good Lake County, FL news, like giving out our internet address for www.FiscalRangers.com .
So, if you want to hear Ralph's show from today, here are the ".wav" audio files which you can download and play in your audio player (Like Microsoft Audio Player). You should be able to double click the files and the correct software to play them should launch. You might be able to doubleclick the files and play them from here without downloading them. Try it!
