Today's paper says Obama is going to give another online video speech to "the nation's students" on Sept. 14, so be ready for the controversy over allowing him to do so within school grounds, and the ground rules.
He is so untrusted by more than 50% of the population, that this will be a controversy again. Since Obama normally doesn't care what other people think, look for the School Board to notify parents of the issue, and get caught in the middle. Will Obama's local supporters be more organized and try to force lesson plans on teachers to brainwash the kids?
I don't know, but Obama opponents should be prepared, and not be surprised if the Democrats try to follow Saul Alinsky's Guide for Radicals and use this as a crisis to demand change in something they want.
Just remember, Obama is the one that has not solved any economic issues, pushes funding for rebuilding mosques, pushed through Obamacare without letting people read it, and pushed funding for immigration of Hamas radicals into the US. Do you really believe he should be a role model for students?
At the very least, concerned parents should educate their students with FACTS about issues before viewing the video at school, so they have some background on what they will NOT be told by Obama. Rather than have them avoid the video, educate them about possible bias and how to interpret it. Maybe even give them some tips to offset the biased comments that might be presented. A really SMART parent would ask their kid to RECORD the audio of the video presentation to see how the teacher presents the video. If you do, send me a copy if teacher remarks are biased, and not neutral. It is one thing to say "This is our President, so let's see what he has to say>>>", vs "This is our marvelous President who has passed the great Health Care plan, and has not run up the deficit so you will be broke for 40 years paying it off...that was Congress". Will Obama stick to just a message about the importance of education, or will he insert some political bias into the speech? Will the presenting teacher praise Obama and try slanting the presentation. Will Alan Grayson get an ad "to the kids" inserted in the video? With Democrats, you have to expect everything and plan for it.
So, my advice to School District officials and parents:
- Parents educate your kids so they can identify possible bias in the video - don't fall into the Alinsky trap of creating a crisis over this issue. DON'T keep the kids from watching it, but inform them so they can detect any bias on the part of the speaker or presenting officials or teachers.
- Parents, have your kid record the audio with a digital recorder to identify teacher bias in presentation of the video.
- District Administration: Warn your teachers to be unbiased and stick to a neutral stance that "Obama is our President, so let's see what he says about the importance of Education...".
- District Administration: Avoid implementing any lesson plans or learning exercises dictated by Obama supporters. The District might develop their own neutral lesson plan to examine reasons for staying in school and graduating.
- District Administration: Under no circumstances allow Alan Grayson to show up and create a photo op. If he does, ask your elected officials to handle him, or ask him to wait in the storage shed and then forget to go back. (Ok, so I am biased about this...)
- District Administration: Plan for some publicity stunt. Be ready to immediately be transparent and discuss any questions from the press. Have a Board member be available to be the unbiased spokeperson. Respond immediately with FACTS or policy statements if some local Obama supporter or non-supporter tries to get publicity over this. Don't obfuscate.
I do know that after last year's controversy, the Lake School Board developed a policy, so look for it to be brought out.
