Tavares, FL - Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 - Normally, you have to wait until Wednesday morning to read Lauren Ritchie's next column in the Lake Section of the Orlando Sentinel.
But, we were tipped that the Wednesday column has already been posted to their website HERE:
Apparently, Lake County Commissioner Sean Parks has been posting "snarky" comments online in the Orlando Sentinel comments sections using a hidden name, and Lauren has the info. He has attacked various people, including this blog's author, and also insists that "others" also used his secret accounts to post comments.
Here are some quotes from Lauren's article:
"The childish individuals who hijack the public-discussion area to engage in name-calling and unfounded allegations are, fortunately, a small minority."
"Commissioner Sean Parks, 40, acknowledged last week that in late May he created an account from which anonymous comments have been posted at OrlandoSentinel.com, repeatedly calling his constituents "hacks and loons," labeling one of his colleagues
Lauren also wrote: "Voters have the right to expect county commissioners to lead the community with integrity, and Parks no longer can do that. His credibility is shot, and he unfortunately doesn't seem to possess the moral fiber to understand why."
I have been told that I have been one of the targets of the snarky comments from Parks.
Read the article and enjoy. This is a good lesson also about why you should never "share" your accounts and passwords with anyone.
Payback is a bitch... And, don't mess with Lauren...

Most elected officials are collaborators with others, but my observation is that Mr. Parks is a narcissist, or person who thinks his opinion is always right. I have had to deal with such personalities in various situations and recognize the traits. I worked in very large organizations where we had to deal with only childs who were always told they were good and right. Then, when they came to the working world, they ran up against reality and the fact that others may have more experience or better ideas. Watching County Board meetings, you can see when he proposes last minute changes and ignores other Commissioners' complaints, or when attending a meeting he "directs" people or defines what he wants to see happen vs a collaborative effort, etc. He has really visibily angered some more senior Commissioners by his actions that arbitrarily ignore respect for their "way of doing things". Here is one definition of a narcissist:
Mr. Parks needs to learn how to work with others without evincing a vision that he doesn't think their opinion counts. Maybe this is a good learning experience.
To help Mr. Parks, here is a blog entry "are you snarky" with some discussion:

PS: This blog has also received numerous nasty comments from multiple email accounts with name calling. All of them used the same IP address and we know the area where the sender is located. Unlike some blogs, we "moderate" our comments and only allow them to be posted if they contribute to a dialog of an issue, and are not just vehicles for name calling.
