Note: This issue is not about the School District wasting food, but about Michelle Obama's school lunch program rules
to from a Federal funding mandate that each kid gets a fruit and vegetable, and reduced calorie counts. Many kids are throwing out that food and wasting it, but the staff of the Lake County school district is hesitant to spend the staff time to MEASURE the amount of waste so policy makers know the cost of the mandates. Our opinion is they could at least do a sampling program and contact local Federal legislators and request modification of the mandates.
