Tavares, FL - Nov. 4, 2012
The Orlando Sentinel and other media reported that Democrats sued and got a judge to mandate exending early voting sessions in Orange County, FL (Orlando area).
"Suspicious Items" found in the Winter Park early voting location at their Public Library resulted in the center being shut down yesterday (Saturday) in order to detonate the items.
This is a LONGER article on the same subject by AP's Gary Fineout who writes more details than the Sentinel, even here in a Philadelphia website. For instance, he also tells about similar Democrat actions in other Florida counties.
My comments:
How convenient that items existed to come up with an excuse to extend the votingin Winter Park.
My Google searches indicate the news is being reported by West Coast publications much more than East Coast publications, probably due to them being in a later timezone and able to pick up the AP article and post it before their deadlines, while the article was too late for east coast deadlines.
Democrats want all polling sites open today so that certain groups can bus in people from churches after being coached who to vote for.
My view is they could vote Tuesday, and they had several earlier days to vote, as well as using absentee ballots, so there is no reason to extend "early" voting hours at one or many locations.
Fineout's article says voting did not conclude until 1am in Miami-Dade county, leading to a demand to extend hours. It is clear that some groups probably stuffed the lines to act as an excuse to extend voting times to Sunday so African-American churches and other groups could coach new voters and bus in more voters and swamp the elections staff so they might overlook illegal votes.
Additionally, all elections offices planned and need time to process votes and this puts a burden on the elections department in order to perhaps force them to skip quality control steps and process illegal votes. That is what ACORN did in the past.
