Tavares, FL - June 3, 2013

Gov. Scott signed FL bill HB-4001 on Friday to REPEAL a prior law
enabled by former Gov. Charlie Crist that required ETHANOL in gasoline.
Ethanol DAMAGES engines. Below is the email I received from the
Governor’s office. He has signed bill HB 4001 last Friday, which will
repeal the existing bill requiring ethanol in fuel, and it takes affect
ONE MONTH from now, on July 1, 2013
You can read the bill summary and confirm his signing here: http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2013/4001
Happy Days are here for all those people whose engines are being damaged by that stupid law implemented by Charlie Crist.
The people won over the lobbyists for once, and all the supporters and
Gov. Scott should be commended for getting the Ethanol requirement
removed.
CAVEAT: This only applies to Florida. And according
to local Lake County activist Jerry Cichon, who fought the Ethanol
requirement for two years, the old fuel tanks at gas stations will still
be contaminated with "black ooze" collected at the bottom of tanks.
Jerry has a classic car seen at Eustis and other car shows and has
worked hard, including trips to Tallahassee, etc to reverse the Ethanol
requirement. So, if you get regular "non-Ethanol" fuel after July 1
from a station that did have Ethanol contaminated gas, the fuel will
probably contain small ratios of Ethanol. Jerry says there is a law
that Gas Stations must replace or clean out their fuel tanks when
changing fuel types, but that has been waived for 3-years due to the
economy.
Expect to see car owners to start switching fuel
providers when they learn to search for newer gas stations with clean
tanks, especially those who know the damage caused by Ethanol. Right
now, however, you can still get non-Ethanol fuel at Harris Oil in Mt.
Dora off HWY 441, and you can get it at the fill up station at the
Tavares boat ramp since they use it for boats, and have pumps on the
parking lot also.
Lobbyists in South Florida working for Brazil
were lobbying Gov. Scott and legislators to KEEP the Ethanol
requirement because they wanted to import Ethanol from Brazil into
Florida for fuel. They promised hundreds of jobs, but fortunately Gov.
Scott and legislators saw through that ploy and still voted to reject
Ethanol in Florida gas.
Jerry also says that the Federal
government doesn't require Ethanol in fuel, but they require Ethanol
production at an increasing rate, thus putting pressure to find
customers for Ethanol. California and other states have the
requirement, so tell your classic car and boat buddies in other states
to MOVE to Florida.

Here is the official summary describing the bill:
Vance Jochim
Lake County Fiscal Rangers
HB 4001 — Florida Renewable Fuel Standard Act
by Reps. Gaetz, Perry, and others (CS/SB 320 by Environmental Preservation and Conservation Committee and Senator Evers)
The bill repeals the statutes comprising the Florida Renewable Fuel
Standard Act, allowing a terminal supplier, importer, blender, or
wholesaler to sell unblended gasoline for any use or purpose, not just
those currently listed as exemptions to the act. The repeal of the
Florida requirements on sellers of gasoline will leave the federal
blending requirements on producers untouched and in effect.
If approved by the Governor, these provisions take effect July 1, 2013.
Vote: Senate 33-1; House 77-39
