Eustis hijinks by the Mayor continue.
Eustis Mayor Michael Holland is running for Lake County Elections Supervisor. So his former boyfriend Tim Totten held an event (part of a series) to honor local Ann Dupee.
Magically, Holland's campaign is the sponsor and their sign was on the dais during Totten's interview. It was almost bigger than the honoree Ann Dupee.
But someone apparently took pictures of many attendees posing with Ann, then posted them on the Holland's campaign website, and that even included Holland's opponent, Senator Alan Hays, who attended to honor Dupee.
Then they are posting two versions of the pictures on Facebook, and one has Holland's sign inserted into each picture, including the one with Hays.
So, warning to Lake Countians. Totten, known for organizing many events in Eustis, is ruining his good reputation by mixing beneficial community events with Holland's campaign and tricks like this.
Now, if you attend a Totten event, you won't know what they will do with your picture. Existing elected officials and candidates should be wary how Totten or Holland will use their pictures from any of their events. You could end up on Holland's campaign website without you knowing. Don't be surprised if he somehow is in a picture with you from any Totten event. They can fudge campaign ethics by Holland being the "sponsor", so therefore your picture could show up on his campaign website.
Fortunately, the other leading Supervisor for Elections candidate Margie Eaton wasn't there or her picture might be there also.
Meanwhile, in Eustis, I am told Holland is playing backroom politics to once again ignore credible applicants to control the replacement choice for a resigned Commissioner, who this time is Bill Brett. Word is Holland is planning to appoint Nan Cobb, local business owner, who in turn is having a Meet & Greet event for Holland at her husband's business, Cobb's Tractors, TWO days before the appointment is made. This is while the city is taking applications for the position. Talk about cronyism.
With high school games like this, is Holland really suited for a Constitutional office? And is this the way for a Eustis Mayor to mess with an elected Florida Senator who has a $200,000 campaign fund?
