Tavares, FL City Council Sept. 7 meeting video uploaded, and HUGE Budget Increase to be approved tomorrow, Sept. 21

Tavares, FL Residents - I have been making and uploading videos of City Council meetings since the staff and City Council will not make their own meeting videos like the County Board, School Board and City of Eustis does.

 

Here is the video from Sept. 7, which had a presentation on the new economic development plan.  There are videos of earlier meetings already on my "FiscalRangersFlorida" YouTube page.  It contains a presentation on a new economic development plan, and a short discussion regarding the proposed HUGE budget increases to be approved tomorrow, Sept. 21.   There were no specific measurable goals, deadlines or priorities described for the economic so there is no certainty about what will receive priority in staff time.

Tomorrow, Wed. Sept 21, the City Council will make the final approval at the 4pm meeting in City Hall chambers for the greatly increased millage rate and $64-million budget (includes revenues not only from taxes but departments like water, etc).

 

Their newspaper ad for the meeting was headlined "NOTICE of PROPOSED TAX INCREASE" with the new 2016-17 property tax levy to increase from $4.2-million to $5.2-million.  That is a HUGE increase.  Unfortunately, the State required format for the advertising notices does not provide comparative info on which budget components were increased, only the total.
