Tavares, FL Nov. 13, 2018
Lake County, FL has been without an Inspector General for maybe a year since the last one left, then the interim acting staffer also left.
Now that Gary Cooney has been finally elected as the new Lake County Court Clerk, he could appoint one.
He has appointed Terri Freeman as the new IG, and she has excellent private and public experience, and is not only a CPA, but a Certified Internal Auditor, which is what I look for (and is what I had years ago).
I have kept the importance of appointing an IG before Gary during the elections, and since he already worked as the #2 in the Court Clerk, he was familiar with them.
Here is the Daily Commercial article on Freeman's appointment. She started on Monday of this week and I will talk to her sometime this week.
