Anti-Common Core activists are focusing on a tech controlled K-12 teaching methodology called PL or Personalized learning, also known as Individualized Personal Learning (IPL) which was tried at Lake County Schools, but I believe discontinued. It was funded by Bill Gates grants. (Submit any corrections in the comments).
But it could pop up again, because it really has two aims - make huge profits for the tech industry because it relies on pushing students to using computers and software to learn, and allows the advocates to control the liberal biased content without much transparency. A third component is capturing excess data on students, and fourth is requiring many tests which also generate fees, and MORE fees if the student has to retake the exam.
Two well known Common Core critics, Emmett McGroarty and Jane Robbins, wrote a commentary at Townhall.com on "The Same Folks Who Brought You Common Core Want You to Embrace “Personalized Learning”"
They explain that Jeb Bush's pro-Common Core group is now renamed, and advocating IP.
"A new “messaging document”has arrived from organizations called ExcelinEd and Education Elements. The former is the new name for Jeb Bush’s outfit in Florida, which is all in on replacing teachers with machines; the latter is a consulting firm that helps schools do this."
Parents and grandparents, teachers and school administrators should protect themselves from this profit grab.
