Here is a proposed K-12 Ethics statement for teachers which was a proposed bill in Maine

The Ethics statement for teachers says what I have been preaching - LCSD needs a mission statement prohibiting political or religious bias in classrooms, textbooks, etc.

"The following Code of Ethics for K-12 teachers (in Maine) forbids teachers from using their classrooms for political, ideological, or religious advocacy. Teachers in violation of the Code would be subject to penalties such as probation, suspension and loss of their teaching licenses. "

It was actually proposed as a bill in Maine, but didn't get out of committee, but it galvanized conservative parents so they have now setup a MainFirstProject.org group to expand efforts on this and other conservative issues.

Lake County Board members and administration should consider adopting such an ethics statement for teachers to provide clarity for conservative parents before they remove their kids from Lake County public schools.
