The saga of the Clermont City Council approving a charter school that no staff wanted continues.
Awhile back, a Charter School was approved by the Clermont City Council to build on a tiny 5 acre lot which was not recommended by any city staff or the Lake County School Board.
Issues were too small an area, limited traffic access, noise affecting residential neighbors right next door, etc.
Resident Dani Page led the charge, filed legal documents, and got a court decision saying the City Council action was not legal.
And then the Charter School folks gave up and started looking at other more acceptable sites with the recommended 20 acres, with noise buffers, etc.
You would think the issue was resolved.
But then the City Council had another meeting where the City Attorney, an outside contractor, seemed to convince them to appeal the case and get it reversed. It is much more expensive to appeal a case.
And, the Clermont City Council, shown in this cell phone video by Dani Page, clearly didn't understand the issues, still voted to use taxpayer funds to appeal the case. The Mayor and Dani Page had an argument also.
So, the issue goes on, even though the Charter School no longer wants to build on the site.
It almost appears the attorney is running the city.
Absurd.
