The Lake County, FL Republicans held a coffee meeting today at the REC Tavares, FL HQ with Lake County Commissioner Wendy Breeden who shared secrets about the County Government. We learned that the County waste contracts are coming up for bid in about a year.
The County property tax valuations are up about 7% so more revenues will be received in the upcoming tax year, but the County Constitutional officers filed big budget increases which will be discussed at a future meeting.
Wendy discussed the need for the County to have a member of the St. John's River Water Management District and at least four well known residents have applied for the Governor's appointment, including Dan Robuck III, Keith Farner Susan Fetter and Ryan Atwood. Each of them has experience with Agriculture, local government or Water issues. Lake County has not had a member of the Board for 24 or more years.
We discussed the need for local, low cost public transportation (buses) for low income college students, and Wendy said a Transportation study is in progress led by a consultant experienced in the field (I saw the earlier presentation to the County Board and it was quite good).
Nope - I did not make a video of the meeting, so this is what you get.
