Last night, Oct. 28, 2019 I was at the Howey-in-the-Hills, FL Town Council meeting.
New Mayor ran meeting well, but lots of angst.
Here is the agenda:

Bad audit was a year late. Here is the 61 page audit report. As a retired internal audit manager, I gotta say there is no excuse for the repetitive control problems listed in the back end of the report.
A Howey sub-development, Venezia, is starting the process to de-annex from the city, a new trend perhaps due to the 9 mills tax rate. This was discussed at an earlier Oct. 14th meeting where Channel 13 disclosed the loss of Venezia would reduce tax income to the city by $400-600K. Here is the News 13 news article on it.
Anger at a new Council member blamed for initiating issues that are claimed to cost the City $36+k in legal fees.
They are looking for a new auditor, so I sent the info to two local CPA firms that audit towns.
This is a tiny town and maybe should just merge back into the County since they don't have revenues to even fix accounting problems.
I will upload the Oct. 28th meeting video later tonight (Oct. 29) or tomorrow and add the link here: XXX
