The current City Council just approved a new $74-million budget, including a new public works building that will cost $6-million. The new debt total will be over $70-million including the new building, and if the new $27-million Performing Arts Center is approved on the Nov. ballot, debt will be close to $100-million.
If another recession hits, debt payments take priority over city services or staff, thus services and staff will be cut or taxes be raised.
The prior and current City Council, including Troy Singer, approved all this debt.
Are you comfortable with that possible $100-milion Tavares taxpayer debt compared to the "pay as you go" spending policies like Minneola and Mt. Dora (The Mayors of both cities told me that.)?
If so, thank the current City Council and Seat 4 incumbent Troy Singer. He is a really nice guy but apparently likes spending taxpayer funds and running up more debt.
If not, vote for fiscal common sense and Walter Price for Seat 4 on the City Council to start controlling the City spending. Walter's campaign page is at https://www.facebook.com/TavaresSeat4/
