Is your City transparent? Why don't them make videos of their Council and Planning & Zoning Meetings? Why can't you see live and archived VIDEOs of City Council decisions t RAISE property taxes?
September is when the local cities and governments have their final two meetings to approve the new property tax millage rates AND the budget for the new year. But most of the public never sees them because they don't make Live videos of the meetings. Kudos to Eustis, FL and Leesburg, FL (well, actually, the videos are not very good and hit and miss by "Lake Front TV") City Councils for having LIVE videos of their meetings.
In contrast, most other City Councils and Managers refuse to provide transparency over showing videos. They use all sorts of excuses.
So, in the current election cycle, ask the City Council candidates why they refuse to provide full transparency over meetings and will not ensure LIVE videos are made of meetings including the Planning & Zoning Commissions!
I have been making videos of Tavares, FL City Council meetings because they specifically refuse to provide transparency over their decisions. They throw out estimates of $70,000 plus to do the videos, but I create them with a $200 camcorder, a $20 tripod, and from the BACK of the room due to their media rules.
But why isn't your city making videos? Don't let them whine about ADA caption standards. ADA captions can be provided for $75/hour at Rev.com. Many Churches now make videos of their sermons, and very good ones with multiple cameras, good mics and they are both live and archived on a website. Why is your city so backwards compared to local churches with fewer staff? Are they reluctant to let you see what they really do and how they spend your money? When I attend many City Council meetings, it is common for 5-10 City Staff sit at meetings, rarely saying anything, including police officers. Why can't one of them be assigned to make the videos?

For city transparency, any videos made by outside parties should be linked on the city agenda and meeting pages.

Mount Dora - no videos
Tavares - no city made videos
Clermont - no videos (except by the Inside Clermont watchdog Dani Page)
Minneola - no city produced videos - a local media firm makes some, but not consistent
