Yesterday, Oct. 7, 2021, the five member Lake County, FL State Legislative Delegation met in Leesburg, FL to hear requests for action and concerns from the public and local agencies.
Over 50 people, representing themselves or organizations spoke for 3-minutes each before FL Senators Dennis Baxley (chair of the event) & Kellie Stargel, plus House Reps Anthony Sabatini, Keith Truenow, and Brett Hage.
Many speakers also sent documents to support their pitches which were given to the panel in 3-ring binders. You can also visit the legislative member's local office and probably be able to review their copy of the binder (call first).
Here is the initial list of the first 50 speakers and their topics prepared by Aline Guy in Rep. Keith Truenow's office. About 4-5 were no-shows, and about 3-4 were walk-ins (not on the agenda) and signed up to talk.

You can view the video of the entire event by Sunday, Oct. 10 at my YouTube "FiscalRangersFlorida" channel. I will post the specific link here when I have it uploaded. You can link to specific sections or use extracts as long as you credit the source link and give credit to FiscalRangers.com.
Below is my list of seven speaking topics needing legislative action. It has links to supporting info. I was only able to cover four of them in my 3-minutes but I gave the issue list to the panel.

- Florida election Integrity Improvements & HB-99: Support the previously mentioned Lake County Republican Party five resolutions already sent to you that would improve election integrity including support for Rep. Sabatini’s HB-99 (2022) which demands the Governor establish an independent third party audit program to audit the 2020 election counts and results of all counties over 250,000 in population. Senators Baxley and Stargel should file companion Senate bills to HB-99. Reps. Hague & Truenow should co-sponsor the bill.
- Support FiscalRangers.com proposed and upcoming reforms of mobile home park management and Statute 723 reforms to prevent abuses and bullying of elderly, women, and veterans who lose their homes to abusive, bully mobile home park owners. We are now making videotaped interviews and affidavits to present to legislators.
- Improve Accountability of County Constitutional Officers who receive more than half of County tax revenues by legislative reforms:
- They are not required to have budget hearings, unlike counties, cities, and special districts. That should be a requirement in their defining statutes.
- They do not provide detailed proposed and final budgets on their websites, unlike counties, cities and special districts. That should be a requirement in their defining statutes.
- They are not subject to performance audits and should have one every three years. That is separate from financial audits, where they are included in County audits. But there are no operational audits to review efficiency, effectiveness, and economy.
- Inflation caused by Biden programs is coming and will affect your constituents. They are needed. Demand the Governor and Legislation do what they can to REDUCE inflation impacts on constituents. Governments typically just keep raising taxes and maintaining “levels of service” but inflation will cause rising property taxes to escalate, pushing some people into foreclosure.
- Fiscalrangers.com has a page on “Florida, the Huckster State” listing foolish or costly Florida practices at https://tinyurl.com/FloridaHucksterState. Please review it and pick one issue to reform in the State government.
- Legislative Reforms are needed over rampant city annexation of rural lands for high-density developments. Florida and Lake County residents living in rural, unincorporated areas live on low-density properties. Developers propose high-density projects next to them that destroy the lifestyle and increase traffic congestion at will. Legislative reforms are needed to prevent greedy cities from annexing rural land to generate tax revenue without providing adequate funds for road expansions. The County does not even collect enough road impact fees to pay for needed growth-caused road improvements. This entire area is abusive of rural homeowner lifestyles and needs reform.
- Covid-19 mandates and alternative treatments need legislative support: The Biden Federal government, mainstream media, and Dr. Fauci are killing people (in my opinion) by mandating ineffective masks and preventing education on building immunity and alternative EARLY treatments like monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, hydroxy, and inhaled budesonide. Legislation is needed to mandate education and availability of alternative early Covid-19 treatments. See https://www.fiscalrangers.com/covid-19-alternative-treatments.html and https://www.fiscalrangers.com/masks-are-dangerous-and-here-is-why.html .
