Leesburg Residents - TWO warnings about upcoming meetings:
Dec. 30 - The City Council is meeting this Thursday, Dec. 30 for a JOINT meeting with the Lake County Board at the Venetian Center at 9am. The online agenda has NO details, so residents beware of mischief. I cannot get anyone from Leesburg on the PHONE to describe the objectives of the meeting. It could be all the massive annexation going on for developments like Whispering Hills and the gridlock that is already happening on roads in Lake County because it seems ALL the Lake County cities are ignoring traffic impacts of new developments. So be there and give input, or watch online - I assume a video will be made.
Jan. 3 at 5:30pm is the regular meeting but the agenda has not yet been posted. However a notice on the website says they will be holding the second, and final approval meeting for the huge Whispering Hills development. Will they get biased, andd inaccurate traffic analysis reports saying "not much is needed to mitigate new traffic loads caused by the developments". This excess development and City annexations and high density sites are going on all over the County and will, in my opinion, cause significant gridlock on roads. Attached is a School District Concurrency map showing ALL the developments in process all over the County, so you better be retired and not have to drive to work in the future in Lake County. If you agree, complain to your City Council and run against them in the next elections.
HERE is the link to the recently published 2021 Concurrency Report showing effects of development on school capacity and boundaries. If too many people move to your city, and school station capacity is at the maximum for your area, they might have to redraw the school boundaries and assign your kids to a different school.
