The City of Tavares, FL is having its City Council meeting at 4 pm today. On the agenda are 4+ planning and zoning approval items including a 4-story apartment building on Highway 19 south of 561. But they are "First Readings" of two required meeting discussions.
Tavares is the ONLY city in Lake County that refuses to let citizens or even the City Council to provide comments at first reading meetings, thus they have to wait until the next meeting which is then final.
All the time, citizens read about a proposed development on signs posted in their neighborhood, and they have to take off work to go to the meeting, then find they are not allowed to comment at the first reading meeting.
Tell your Tavares Council Member that they should be MORE TRANSPARENT and allow public comments and discussion during first readings.
