Florida Ranks #1 of all states in "Education Freedom" in new report by Heritage Foundation

Florida ranks #1 in a new Heritage Foundation Education Freedom Report Card report, announced at the Heritage Foundation launch event in Orlando on Sept. 9, 2022, which I attended. They announced state rankings in a new study to evaluate "Education Freedom" in all the states.  It ended with a speech on Education reforms championed by FL Gov. Ron DeSantis.  Florida State Education Commissioner Manny Diaz also attended and spoke.

The state education ranking system is composed of four categories of evaluation, and they are each shown for states, including the primary categories of 1) Education Choice, 2) Regulatory Freedom, 3) Academic Transparency, and 4) Education Spending and Return on Investment.

My conclusion:

The Heritage Foundation has launched this new state education ranking system to highlight states that have more "Education Freedom" including the ability to attend charter schools and have school choice alternatives to government-run education (K-12).  Heritage is launching this initiative for parents who want school choice to more easily choose which state they move to.  The results of these rankings can be used by Federal and State policymakers to implement more school choices, vouchers, etc.
