Lake County residents who have not had their trash or recycling picked up:
Update Mon., Jan 2, 2023 - HOORAY! The waste hauler for my neighborhood came by this morning and finally picked up the remaining trash bin from Friday. We will see what happens this Friday, the next pickup day.
Update Fri., Dec. 30, 2022 - This morning at 9:32 am after a week of waiting, the Lake County, FL contracted hauler picked up the 7 days overdue recycling bins. BUT, as of 5pm on the same day, they have NOT picked up the REGULAR trash bin. In the picture, you can see the overloaded, delayed recycle bin, and behind it is the regular trash bin that is still sitting there. So they missed another garbage run. Email notice sent to [email protected] with a new picture.
Original post - Thursday, Dec. 29: The great 2022 Lake County, FL garbage pickup crisis keeps going on. Last week's recycling pickup just before Christmas was about the FIFTH time it was missed until the following pickup day a week later. So, I sent (and you should also) a complaint to [email protected] AND to all five County Commissioners and the County Manager. I also recommended they combine the normal trash pickup with the recycling pickup to save costs and eliminate the need for the hauler that skips his schedule.
Below is the automated answer I got. By the way, they previously admitted that they send complaints to the hauler to solve, but did not have ANY tracking system to ensure the hauler solved the issue.
AND, keep in mind the selection of the new hauler and many missed garbage runs happened under the two-year reign of Sean Parks as County Board Chairman. So complain to him as well as the other commissioners.
I also recommended they adopt an image of an overstuffed garbage can as the new County logo.
The picture shows a trash bin sitting on my local street since the missed pickup day of Friday, Dec. 23. It is still there today, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022. Will it get picked up tomorrow, the next scheduled pickup day?

Thank you for contacting the Lake County Solid Waste Division. This is an automated message to confirm that your email was received.
Solid Waste Update: The County has reached out to partners for supplemental assistance with curbside collection
This assistance may mean that different haulers pass through your neighborhood or that solid waste is picked up on an irregular schedule
Customers are asked to leave their carts out if a pickup is missed so that crews can correct the issue as quickly as possible
We will continue to communicate regularly with our contractors and uphold delay fees
A phone bank has been set up so that our teams can assist more callers and cut down wait times
The County is updating internal processes to ensure smoother contract hauler transitions and identify solutions to these challenges in the future
