Florida is home to the largest consortium of cities and counties tracking performance benchmarks, called the Florida Benchmarking Consortium. The Lake County government, plus three cities, Mt. Dora, Tavares and Clermont joined FBC last year (2017). The first annual FBC report showing performance measures for more than 30 members was just published in Dec., 2017 for fiscal year 2015-16 and they are in it. In June, 2024, Lake County, FL Tax Collector and his brother Mark Jordan, committed an underhanded dirty trick to fool incumbent and 2024 re-election candidate Lake County Property Appraiser Carey Baker into thinking he had no opponent, and at the last minute filed Mark Jordan for the position while Carey had filed as a write-in, thinking he had no opponent. This post includes the details and an approved resolution by the Lake County, FL Republican Party calling for Mark Jordan to drop from the race.
