This Orlando Sentinel article and video is about Lake County, FL School Board members getting a 4% raise which is set by the STATE, not the Board. The picture here is NOT the Lake County Board, but some other Board...apparently the OC Sentinel doesn't know the difference.
So, our Lake County School Board is getting a raise of 4% when teachers get very little. Board member Bill Mathias is the only Board member so far to donate his "raise" to the School District's Foundation.
Update: Tod Howard posted this: "I stated mine will likely go to support Winnie Palmer NICU."
This will make for an even better meeting at 1pm on Monday, Sept. 23, when the School Board decides whether to re-instate impact fees, discuss busing, etc.
You can find the 1pm Special Meeting Agenda for the School Board, as well as the regular 6pm meeting agenda here: http://www.boarddocs.com/fla/lake/board.nsf/Public
You can also find another take on School impact fees here (just keep in mind it is backed by homebuilders and they do NOT want impact fees at all). http://lakecountygov.info/2013/09/19/almost-a-billion-dollars/
